ABOUT ASHLEY

Hi, I’m Ashley (She/Her) If you’re looking for a sterile clinic where an "expert" analyzes you over a clipboard, we probably won't be a great fit. I fundamentally believe that connection is how we heal, and that therapy is at its absolute best when it just feels like two humans talking. I want to create a safe, fiercely non-judgmental space that holds all of who you are.

As an LGBTQ+ affirming and ASL-fluent therapist, I specialize in helping individuals, couples, and families navigate emotional overwhelm, religious trauma, and the crushing weight of perfectionism. My role isn't to tell you how to live your life, but to show up with you to help you untangle the hard stuff, and build a more grounded relationship with yourself.

Couples Counseling

Tired of having the exact same argument on a continuous loop? When relationships get stuck, my goal isn't to act as a referee. Instead, we explore the emotional patterns playing out beneath the surface and light the way back to each other so you can reconnect.

WHO DO I SERVE?

I work with adult individuals, couples, and families across Texas who are navigating the feeling that the status quo just isn't working anymore.

My practice is a dedicated space for LGBTQ+ folks, high-achievers battling perfectionism, and those trying to untangle the deep, complicated knots of religious trauma and anxiety. As an ASL user, I also proudly offer direct, accessible care to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community.

Whether you're feeling disconnected in your relationships, exhausted from playing a role you never auditioned for, or just tired of carrying the weight of the world while pretending everything is fine—this is a space where you can finally set that weight down.

FAQ'S

Where are you located?

I am based in Austin, TX but I see clients in person at Lavender Space Inc in San Marcos, TX and virtually. I provide confidential telehealth counseling services to individuals, couples, and families anywhere in the state of Texas. You can show up to session in your sweatpants, from the comfort of your own couch, with your dog (or cat) on your lap. In fact, I highly encourage it.

Are any conversations “off limits” in therapy?

No, there are no taboo topics in therapy with me. However, there are mandated reasons in the state of Texas where I might have to break confidentiality( harm to self or someone else, suspected abuse of a protected class which includes elderly individuals, minors, or people with disabilities). If a subject ever broaches one of those reasons, I will give you a heads up.

What actually happens in a first session?

Therapy with me isn't a sterile intake process where I stare at you over a clipboard and ask you what's wrong with you (I do have a clipboard but it’s because I am an elder millennial and like to take paper notes). The first session is just two humans getting to know each other. I’ll go over informed consent, confidentiality, ask some questions to understand your world, what’s bringing you in, and what you actually want out of our time together. I am also happy to answer your questions about me as a therapist and person. We’ll go at your pace, and you only have to share what you’re ready to share.

Do you take insurance?

In my work at Lavender Space Inc, and because I am an LPC-Associate, I am an out-of-network provider, which means I do not bill insurance companies directly. However, I can provide you with a "superbill" that you can submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Because accessibility is a core value of mine, I also offer sliding-scale spots based on financial need—please just ask.

Who do you work with?

I work with adult individuals, couples, and families.

While I welcome people from all walks of life, my specialties include LGBTQIA+ affirming care, religious trauma, perfectionism, anxiety, and relationship dynamics. My practice is rooted in social justice and human rights. I actively oppose policies and enforcement practices that dehumanize, target, displace, or inflict harm on undocumented or immigrant families, LGBTQIA+ communities, and racially marginalized groups. You do not have to leave your fear of systemic harm outside the therapy room—we bring curiosity, compassion, and systemic understanding to all of it. Therapy with me is a confidential, judgment-free space where your physical and emotional safety are paramount.

What does LPC-Associate mean?

Great question! It means I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, I’ve passed my national board exams, and I am fully licensed to practice in Texas while completing my mandatory supervised clinical hours. As an Associate, I practice under the direct clinical supervision of Dr. Bernadette H. Solórzano. Practically, this means you essentially get two clinical brains for the price of one, as I consult with her regularly to ensure you are getting the absolute best care possible.

FAQ

Family dynamics are complicated, and it’s entirely too easy to get stuck playing a role you never auditioned for—the peacemaker, the problem-solver, the overachiever. I don't pick sides or point fingers. We’ll work collaboratively to shift the dynamic from frustration to curiosity, ensuring every member of the family feels genuinely seen and understood.
